Terms and Conditions of Booking

1. A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of £100 is required upon confirmation
2. The hirer must be present throughout the period of use of the room and should make themselves known to the Duty Manager.
3. The hirer is responsible for any theft from, or damage to building fabric or equipment. Any repairs or replacement needed as a direct result of the hire will be charged at the cost of such repair or replacement
4. A damage deposit of £200 is required for certain events. Where applicable the deposit is refundable 24 hrs after the event provided no property damage has occurred.
5. The deposit secures the date booking only and does not guarantee the price. The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd reserves the right to amend prices and details should circumstances so demand. Notification will be sent should this occur.
6. Buffets for less than the stated minimum guests may be accepted at the discretion of the management. In this situation, a surcharge of £3.00 per person falling below the stated minimum will be levied.
7. Formal meals are priced on the basis of a minimum of 30 adults. A surcharge of £5.00 per person falling below the stated minimum will be levied.
8. A private bar will only be provided free of charge when numbers exceed 30 people.
A private bar for groups below the quoted minima can be provided at a charge, the cost being dependent on numbers attending.
9. 14 days in advance of a formal event you should: notify final numbers; notify guest meal choices; provide table plans and guest cards if applicable.
10. Wedding accounts to be settled 14 days prior to the wedding.
11. All other accounts to be settled in full 2 days prior to the start of the event.
12. Children attending the event should remain in the function room and may only enter the restaurant and bar if accompanied by an adult and prior to 9pm. Children of 8 years and older may use the LazerZone facility at the prevailing rates. Children under 8 years may use the PlayZone facilities at the prevailing rates but must be accompanied by an adult.
13. The hirer shall not cause or allow the maximum number of event participants admitted to exceed the number specified on the booking form.
14. The named customer contact shall be responsible for providing suitable attendants at the doors if required to do so by The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd.
15. The named customer contact shall not bring in, suffer or allow to be bought in any food or drink not purchased on the premises.
16. The named customer contact shall not bring in, suffer or allow to be bought in any prescribed substance.
17. The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd shall have the right to stop any event in progress if it appears that any breach of these conditions has been committed and no refund shall be payable on the exercise of this right by The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd.
18. The hirer shall indemnify The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd and its staff against any action, claim or damages in respect of injury or damage, to any person, or any item or any loss occasioned or caused by bringing into the premises by the hirer, his agents, servants or any other person whatsoever anything in connection with the hiring.
19. The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd shall not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any property bought onto the premises which is owned by or under control of the hirer, his agents, servants or any other person whatsoever connected with the hiring.
20. The hirer may not use the premises for any activity that would require a Public Entertainment Licence to be in effect.
21. The hirer shall use the premises and facilities offered by The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd for no other purpose than that specified and agreed. The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd reserve the right to cancel the booking if it appears to them that it is proposed to use it for any purpose not in contemplation of the parties, and no refund of the hiring shall be payable at the exercise of this right by The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd.
22. Where hire is agreed for the purposes of an event to be promoted to the public then any and all forms of advertising and promotion of the event must be agreed in advance and in writing with The Custom House (Barrow) Ltd. In no circumstance is the practice of “fly-posting” accepted.
